Alejandro Chapa Sr.

Alejandro Chapa, Sr. of La Pryor passed away on February 24, 2015 at Uvalde Memorial Hospital at the age of 83. He was born on October 14, 1931 in La Pryor to Indalecio and Aurora (Flores) Chapa. He married Christine McHazlett in Eagle Pass on January 6, 1958. He is survived by his wife of 57 years of La Pryor; daughter, Elizabeth Chapa-Vera and husband Arnold of Atascosa; son, Alejandro Chapa Jr. and wife Rosa of Crystal City; sisters, Lucinda Medellin and Olga Reynolds both of Lubbock; grandchildren, Kevin Chapa Vera, Alejandro Chapa III, Chelsea Ann Chapa, Christa Lynn Chapa and Noah Ezekiel Chapa. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Pedro Chapa and Gilberto Chapa; sisters, Aurora Sepeda, Lydia Hass and Emilia Covarrubia. A rosary will be held on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at Rusing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, February 27, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in La Pryor. Burial will follow at La Pryor Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kevin Chapa Vera, Alejandro Chapa III, Dwight McHazlett, Arnold Vera, Edwin McHazlett, John Paul McHazlett, and Harry McHazlett.
