Alice Roberson Lockhart passed away peacefully on November 18, 2008 at the age of 81 with family remembers by her side. She was born in Maverick, Texas, February 23rd, 1927, the youngest of seven children born to Calvin and Maude McCauley Roberson. She spent her early years living in Runnels County until she enlisted in the US Army in December or 1943. She proudly served her country while station in Colorado Springs Colorado as a member or WAC. In 1953, Alice met and married Jack Donald Lockhart. Together they raised their three young children and grew a thriving roofing company in Hobbs New Mexico. Besides the love for their children, Alice and Jack shared a love for training race horses. This hobby and profession took them to adventures at race tracks in many different states. Their fondest memories are of days spent with friends and family on the Brush Circuit race tracks of Texas. Their appreciation and love of horses and all animals is still shared by their children. Alice later moved to Ft McKavettt, Texas where she lived for many years. She and her children share fond memories of her wonderful friends from Ft McKavett which became a part of her extended family. Alice is survived by three children, three grandsons a sister numerous nieces and nephews. Daughter Virginia Harris of Dripping Springs, Daughter Jacklyn and husband Rob McKinney of Junction, Son Calvin Lockhart and wife Karen of Dripping Springs; grandsons Jack Bierschwale Calvin Lee McKinney and Cal Davis Lockhart sister Linda Bond of Waco. Graveside Services for Mrs. Lockhart will be held Saturday, November 22, 2008 at 1:00 PM at Vance Cemetery, Vance, Texas In Lieu of flower memorial donations may be made to the Vance Cemetery fund P.O.
