Allen Lee Cox of Batesville passed away on April 23, 2007 in St. Lukes Baptist Hospital in San Antonio at the age of 77. He was born on April 5, 1930 in Bell County, Texas to Ruben and Emma Cox. He graduated from La Feria High School in La Feria, Texas. He worked as a Federal Produce Inspector in Texas and Arkansas where he met his wife, Christine Fife. They married in 1954 in Hermitage, Arkansas. Allen served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956 in Metz, France. He is survived by his wife, Christine Cox of Haile, LA; six children, Lee Sherwood and wife, Cheryl of Suisun, CA; Johnny Cox and wife, Donna of San Ignacio, Texas; Patricia Stinson and husband, William of Haile, LA; Nathan Cox of Haile, LA; Belinda Schmidt and husband, Pete of Batesville; and David Cox and wife, Casandra of Little Elm, Texas; two brothers, Lemuel Cox and wife, Lee of Harlingen, TX; and Lawrence Cox of Killeen, Texas; sister, Mary Sue Walker and husband, Charles of Durango, CO; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruben and Emma Cox; sister, Daisy Thomas; brother, Jerry Cox; and sons, Darrell Sherwood and Chester Ruben Cox. Allens favorite pastime was fishing. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 27, 2007 at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in Batesville with burial to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in Uvalde. Rev. Johnney Whiteaker will officiate. Funeral arrangements are by Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuar
