Amelia Garza

Amelia Garza of Uvalde passed away on March 13, 2016 in Amistad Nursing Home at the age of 92. She was born on May 4, 1923 in Uvalde, Texas to Josefa (Gonzales) and Eusebio Castillo. She is survived by her daughters, Rebecca Garza Esparza and husband Roger of Dallas and Rachel Servantes and husband Ernest of Uvalde; two sisters, Connie Ibarra of Uvalde, Leonor Monchada of San Antonio; one brother, Alejandro Castillo; four grandchildren, Roxanna Esparza, Roger Ryan Esparza, Ernest Servantes Jr., and Rachel Gonzales; great grandchildren, Gabriel Esparza, Ernest Casales, Derek Smith, Sabrina Servantes, and Sofia Gonzales. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jose Garza, sister Rosario Gonzales, Carolina Antu, Dolores Flores; brother Gilberto Castillo, Alberto Castillo and Guadalupe Castillo.
A rosary will be held on Monday, March 14, 2016 at 7:00 pm at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. Mass of Catholic Burial will held on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at 3:00 pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Uvalde with burial in the Hillcrest Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ernest G. Servantes Jr., Roger Ryan Esparza, Raymond Gonzales, Rudy R. Flores III, Rudy R. Flores Jr., and Daniel Ibarra.
