It is with great sadness that the family of Anastacio Y. Vasquez of Uvalde, announce his recent passing. Anastacio, 93, passed peacefully and went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 14, 2019 in Pflugerville, Texas under the care of his beloved family and friends.
Anastacio was born to Vicente and Trinida (Ybarra) Vasquez on September 14, 1925 in Sabinal, Texas. He was married to his beloved wife, Juanita Vasquez for 70 years.
He is survived by sons, Armando Vasquez and wife, Mary Jane of Pflugerville and Andy Vasquez and companion, Rene Oueton of Crowley. He is also survived by his grandchildren Noel Vasquez; Dion Vasquez; Belinda Segura; Manuel Vasquez; Vincent Vasquez; and Amanda Vasquez and their spouses and many great grandchildren; Fanny Munoz in Sabinal and Candelaria Ramos in Chicago, Ill.
Anastacio was a proud veteran who served two years in the United States Army during World War II at Pearl Harbor. Following his military service, Anastacio (also known as Andy) served over 50 years in the sewing and alteration service where he served the community as Uvalde’s premier Tailor. Outside of his career, he played a pivotal role as a father and also served as a Scout Master with the Boy Scouts for many years and will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; 3 sisters; Lupe Davis, Andrea Borrego, Amada Silva, and 1 brother, Porfido Vasquez.
The rosary will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, March 22, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Noel Vasquez, Dion Vasquez, Manuel Vasquez, Vincent Vasquez, George Segura, and Allen Smith
