Anita Rodriguez

Anita A. Rodriguez of Sabinal passed away on December 30, 2019 in Hondo at the age of 94.  She was born on November 3, 1925 in Sabinal to Librado and Casimira (Alvarez) Alejandro.

She married Aurelio “Chapo” Rodriguez on May 15, 1958 in Hondo, Texas.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years of Sabinal; sons, Gilberto Biera, Jr. and wife, Mary Helen of Castroville, Rodolfo Rodriguez and companion, Gloria Davis of Sabinal, Ricardo A. Rodriguez and companion, Eva Padilla of Sabinal; daughters, Patricia Garcia and husband, Juan of Cotulla, Rita Lopez and her late husband, Joe of Sabinal; 14 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Gilberto Biera, Sr., son, Lee Biera, Sr. and daughter, Margarita “Kika” Valdez; sisters, Leonor Calsado, Maria Hernandez, and Elena Rodriguez and brother, Francisco Alejandro.

Visitation will begin on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary in Sabinal.  A rosary will be held on Thursday and Friday at 7:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary in Sabinal.  A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.  Interment will follow at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Javier Lopez, Shayne Albarado, Sergio Valdez, Justz Rodriguez, Israel Valdez, Lee Biera, Jr. and Mark Garza.
