Annie Henneke

Annie Laura Van Pelt Henneke of Concan passed away peacefully on July 17, 2012 at the age of 93. She was born in Concan, Texas on October 21, 1918, to Anna Laura Hammer and Hurxthal Van Pelt. At a Garner State Park dance, Anna Laura met and fell in love with Edwin A. Henneke, a member of Roosevelts Civilian Conservation Corps that built the historic park. The couple married on June 29, 1940 and lived in San Antonio before retiring in Concan. They were happily married for 55 years, enjoying vacations around the country with family and friends including many beloved trips to Las Vegas. Mrs. Henneke is preceded in death by her husband, one sister, six brothers, and a niece. She is survived by one son, and daughterinlaw, Jerry and Marte Henneke of Corpus Christi, one daughter, Norma Jean Streib of San Antonio and eight grandchildren Carl Locke Shana of Corpus Christi, Kerri Puhl Harold of San Antonio, John Stewart Michelle of Concan, Chris Henneke Tracie of San Antonio, Tiffani Webb Jerahmy of Concan, Bryan Lee Henneke Samantha of Corpus Christi, Sara Lloyd Benjamin of Corpus Christi, Jeffery Sappington Blanca of Houston, 16 greatgrandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Services are under the direction of RushingEstesKnowles Mortuary of Uvalde. Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 20, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. at the Concan Cemetery.
