Annie Smith

Annie Lee Smith of Kerrville passed away in Kerrville, Texas on August 23, 2012, at the age of 102. She was born to John L. and Annie P. Rives on April 21, 1910 in Fisher County, Texas. Her childhood was spent with her family of three sisters and two brothers farming in West Texas. Early school days were spent in Rotan, Texas. Her high school years were spent in Knippa where she graduated from high school.
Annie Lee Smith was a homemaker after marrying Alvin J. Smith on November 7, 1931. She taught school in Knippa for a period of time during World War II. Her college days were spent at Texas State University. Both Annie Lee and Alvin Smith were members of the South Getty Street Church of Christ. Her husband preceded her in death in 1983.
She was active in church and with school activities. She loved the church and Holy Scriptures. One of her most enduring qualities was her love of literature. She could quote poetry and sing words of songs long since gone into the book of memories.
She is survived by two sons Lawrence Ray Smith and wife Nancy of Kerrville and James Morris Smith and wife Barbara of Williamsport, Pennsylvania and by on daughter Alva Lee McMasters and husband David of Fort Stockton six grandchildren Lauren Lemley of Abilene, Texas, Dava Longoria of Midland, Wesley McMasters of Ft. Stockton, James Buchanan Smith of Buffalo, New York, Marci Sorge, of Kansas City, Missouri and Todd Smith of Allentown, Pennsylvania, 11 great grandchildren and 7 greatgreat grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Hillcrest Cemetery in Uvalde. Dr. Lawrence Ray Smith will officiate. Memorial donations may be made to Sunny Glenn Childrens Home, P.O. Box 1373, San Benito, Texas 78586.
