Antonio "Tony" Martinez

Antonio “Tony” Martinez, Sr., 52, of Uvalde passed away on August 12, 2023, at Uvalde Memorial Hospital. 

He was born on March 10, 1971, in Uvalde to Eusevia (Lira) and Jose C. Martinez, Sr.

He married San Juanita “Mickey” Vasquez.

He is survived by his wife of 32  years of Uvalde; mother, Eusevia Fernandez of Uvalde; father, Jose C. Martinez, Sr., of Uvalde; three sons, Antonio L. “TJ” Martinez, Jr. of Austin, Roberto “Robby” Antonio Martinez of Austin and Sixto “Sammy” Antonio Martinez and wife, Allison Angel Soltero of Austin; two sisters, Cynthia Martinez and Josephine Lara and husband, Eddie all of Uvalde; grandson, Luca Antonio Martinez of Austin; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

He is preceded in death by his brother, Jose C. Martinez, Jr.; sister, Marisol Martinez; maternal grandparents, Cecilio and Juanita Lira, paternal grandparents, Sixto and Eusevia Martinez and brother in law, Fabian Vasquez.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at 1 p.m. followed by a rosary at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. 

Pallbearers will be Juan Vasquez, Jose Rendon, Jr., Cristian Sotelo, Matthew Lara, Aaron Lara, Hector Valdez, Julian Ortega, Gilbert Granado, Eddie Lara, and Tasha Lara.
