Antonio M. Martinez, Jr. of Uvalde passed away on March 31, 2023, at his residence at the age of 71.
He was born on March 7, 1952, in Uvalde to Guadalupe Maldonado and Antonio G. Martinez.
He married Luz Alicia Rivera on February 16, 1974, in Uvalde, Texas.
Tony as he was known to many was a follower of Jesus, fan of golfing, a baseball coach, a Command of Royal Rangers, and a Carnival cruise lover, and enjoyed spending quality time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Luz of 49 years of marriage of Uvalde; Erica Phipps and husband, Michael of Jackson, Ohio; son, Jeremiah Martinez of Uvalde; one sister, Nora Cruz and husband, Simon of Uvalde; six brothers, Enrique Martinez and wife, Dora of Uvalde, Rogelio Martinez and wife, Sandra of Uvalde, Adolfo Martinez of California, Ricardo Martinez of California, Armando Martinez of Arkansas and Arnulfo Martinez of San Antonio; six grandchildren, Ezekiel Martinez, Clarissa F. Martinez, Hannah Joy Phipps, Amaya Martinez, Jacqueline R. Martinez, and James J. Martinez; four great grandchildren, Elijah Luna, Carmen G. Valencia, Chloe H. Valencia, and Naomi L. Valencia, and special Rivera family members, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents and Rivera in-laws.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday at 1 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at 10 a.m. at Templo Cristiano Church. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
