Antonio “Knippa” Cano Vela of Uvalde, passed away on May 19, 2023 at Uvalde Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 87.
He was born on January 17, 1936, in Stockdale, Texas to Martina (Cano) and Jesus Vela.
He is survived by his two daughters, Mary Trevino and husband, Joe and Susie Martinez all of Uvalde; son, Juan Hernandez and wife, Diana of Uvalde; sister, Santa Ortega of Eagle Pass; 8 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Elvira Hernandez.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 22, 2023, at 1 p.m. followed by a rosary at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Pallbearers will be Jay Lopez, Michael Martinez, Mark Martinez, Joey Trevino, Brian Hernandez and Jimmy Ortega.
