Armando Martinez

Armando T. Martinez of Uvalde passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, October 10, 2016 at Life Care Hospital in San Antonio at the age of 61. He was born on August 30, 1955 in Uvalde to Juan Armando Martinez and Orfelinda Soto Reyes.
Armando was a graduate of Uvalde High School and continued on with college to pursue his dream in Law Enforcement of over 20 years. His career started with Uvalde County Sheriffs Department of 5 years; then continued on serving the remainder of his career with Uvalde Police Department. He was loved and respected by many for his work. On his free time, he loved playing golf and was an avid sports follower and he was never a quitter. He always followed through with anything he started; even to his last of days. He was a loving father, brother, husband, uncle and friend.
He is survived by his father, Juan Martinez of Uvalde; his mother, Orfelinda Rosas of San Antonio; wife, Ruby Garza of Uvalde; daughter, Sandra Guerra and son in law, Bryan of San Antonio; stepdaughters, Viviana M. Garcia, Laura Garza and Victoria R. Garcia all of Uvalde; stepson, Alfred Garza III; sisters, Norma Sharp and partner Victor Fuller, Bertha Ortiz and husband, Gabriel, Lydia Delgado and husband, John all of Angleton, and Cynthia Garza of Uvalde; brothers, Juan A. Martinez, Jr. and wife Carol, Andy Martinez and wife Susie, Ruben Martinez and partner, Elva Ayala all of Uvalde, Tony Martinez and wife Monica of Austin and Miguel Reyes of San Antonio; grandchildren, Madison Marie Guerra and Bryson Lee Guerra. He was preceded in death his stepmother, Yolanda Martinez, sister, Racheal Taylor and Leticia Reyes; brother, Rodolfo Reyes; brother in law, Joe A. Garza, and paternal grandparents, Juan and Eva Martinez.
A rosary will be held on Saturday and Sunday at 7:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, October 17, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Pallbearers will be Juan Martinez Jr, Ruben Martinez, Andy Martinez, Tony Martinez, Alfred Garza III and Rudy Flores.
