Arnoldo Garcia of Uvalde passed away on August 14, 2016 at his residence at the age of 62. He was born on June 15, 1954 in Saginaw, Michigan to Willie R. and Jesusita (Reynosa) Garcia.
He married Evangelina Gonzalez on June 16, 1973 in Uvalde. He worked as a production manager for Alpine Packaging Inc. in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was previously employed for more than 15 years in the mining industry in Uvalde, working at White's Uvalde Mines, then at Smyth Asphalt Mines Incorporated. According to the family, he enjoyed spending time with family, cooking, hunting and fishing. The family says he was a Sunday School teacher and an avid volunteer; he worked with organizations including New Hope in The Rockies, Colorado Springs, Colorado, and with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years of Uvalde; daughters, Edna G. Brown and husband Andre of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Elma Garcia and Emerald G. Cochran both of Uvalde; son, Ezekiel Garcia and companion Adrian Enriquez of Uvalde; sisters, Dolores Garcia of Wichita, Kansas and Connie Trevino of Uvalde; brother, Richard Garcia of Rockport; 5 grandchildren; 1 great- grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Olga Moreno and brother, Gilbert Garcia.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.
