Augustin Cruz

Augustin M. Cruz of Uvalde passed away on February 26, 2009 in Main Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 88. He was born on August 28, 1920 in Uvalde, Texas to Pablo and Leandra Cruz. He is survived by six daughters; Juanita Cruz and husband, Abel Garza of Arvin California; Maria Elena Moreno and husband, Jose Sr. of Lawton, Oklahoma; Anna Jaquez; Olga Morris and husband, Darrell; Aurora Hernandez and husband, Marcos Sr.; and Rosie Sanchez and husband, Pepe all of Uvalde, Texas; three sons; Jenaro Cruz and wife, Jesusita; and Pablo Cruz and wife, Maria all of Uvalde, Texas; and Richard Cruz and wife, Angie of Lawton, Oklahoma; one sister; Elena Gonzales of Uvalde, Texas; 36 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Amelia Cruz; son; Augustine Cruz Jr.; and daughter; Anita Cruz. A rosary will be on Saturday Sunday at 7:00 PM at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel. Funeral services will be on Monday, March 2, 2009 at 3:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Manuel C. Garza, Jose Moreno Jr., Joseph Cruz, Raul Jaquez, Marcus Hernandez, Julian P. Sanchez, and Ramiro Cruz Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Jenaro Cruz, Augustin R. Cruz, Juan Cruz, Severo Cruz, Adolfo Cruz Jr., and Pablo Cruz.
