Basilio R. Quiroga

Basilio “Chilo” Ruiz Quiroga Sr., long time general contractor in Uvalde, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his residence on Saturday, August 12, 2023. He was born January 9, 1941, to Indalecio and Fidelia Quiroga. He was married to Elisa M. Quiroga for 60 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Indalecio and Fidelia Quiroga and brother Johnny Quiroga. He is survived by his wife, Elisa, sons Carlos Lara, Basilio Quiroga, Jr. and wife Mary, and Enrique Quiroga. Grandchildren Angelica and husband Antonio Gaucin, Rosalinda Lara and husband Ramon Buruato, Jr.; Elizabeth De La Rosa and husband Jonathan Hardin; Basilio Quiroga, III, Julia Quiroga and Josue Quiroga; Arriel Quiroga and Hailey Quiroga; great grandchildren Anthony Gaucin, Aubrianna Quiroga and Gabriel Quiroga; brother Indalecio Quiroga, sisters Emma Ruiz and Zulema Murillo, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A rosary will be held Thursday, August 17, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, August 18, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Uvalde Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Carlos Lara, Basilio Quiroga, Jr., Enrique Quiroga, Basilio Quiroga, III, Josue Quiroga, Antonio Gaucin and Anthony Gaucin. Honorary pallbearer will be Gabriel Quiroga.
