Ben Charles Harp of Uvalde passed away on April 29, 2020 at his residence at the age of 95. He was born on December 13, 1924 in Uvalde to Ada Mae (McNair) and George Washington Harp. He married Mary Balzen in Uvalde on September 2, 2000. He is survived by his wife of 19 years; sister, Shirley Stoner of Montell; stepdaughter, Mary Jane Hobbs and husband, Barry of D'Hanis; daughter-in-law, Sharon Harp of Quihi; grandchildren, Gary Harp and Michelle; James Harp and wife, Brenda; Michael Harp and wife, Shari; Kim Fenely; Scott Thormann and wife, Becky; and Tayler Ann Hobbs; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and mother of his grandchildren, Lynda Harp of San Antonio. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Patsy Harp; son Don Harp; brother, Vernon Harp; and sister, Georgia Mae Gauthier. Ben was a member of the Knights of Columbus and an avid hunter and fisherman. He retired with 32 years of service with Coca Cola. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at Hillcrest Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be James Harp, Gary Harp, Michael Harp, Bobby Kramer, Harmon Jones, and Barry Hobbs. Memorial donations may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, VFW Post #4135, or American Legion Post #479.
