Benito Ramon Avila

Benito Ramon Avila, 84, of Uvalde passed away on October 30, 2023, at his residence. 

He was born on April 2, 1939, in Juventino Rosas, Guanajuato to Cayetana (Arellano) and Tomas Avila. 

He married Berta Alicia Castillo on June 11, 1965, in Piedras Negras, Coahuila.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years of Uvalde; five daughters, Norma Anderson and husband, Claude, Elsa Avila, Alicia Avila, Abigail Padilla and husband, Juan, and Beatriz Valenzuela and husband, Vincent all of Uvalde; two sons, Juan Ramon Avila and wife, Patricia of Uvalde and Hector Avila and wife, Diana of San Antonio; two sisters, Esther A. Nunez and husband, Rogelio of Piedras Negras, Coahuila and Maria Elena Avila Negrete and husband, Francisco of Eagle Pass; seven brothers, Gabriel Avila and wife, Rita, Javier Avila and wife, Norma all of Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Samuel Avila and wife, Guadalupe of Uvalde, Tomas Avila and wife, Marilu of Uvalde, Guadalupe Avila and wife, Yolanda, Raul Avila and wife, Maria Eugenia all of Piedras Negras, Coahuila, and Alfredo Avila and wife, Guadalupe of Uvalde; sixteen grandchildren, Amanda Verdusco, Juan Ramon Avila, Jr., Danielle Watson, Stephen Avila, Jaqueline Avila, Maria Padilla, Ashlea Avila, Victoria Watson, Juan Jose Padilla, Katherine Watson, Claude Anderson, II, Eilee Avila, Kaylie Padilla, Juan Gabriel Padilla, Jr.,  Sofia Padilla, and Jiovanni Padilla; eight great grandchildren, Alejandro Hernandez, Caden James Hale, Amelia Anderson, Anastasia Verdusco, Elouise Anderson, Joshua Avila, Aria Avila, and Cataleya Padilla. 

He is preceded in death by his parents. 

Visitation will begin on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2023, from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. and on Thursday, Nov 2, 2023, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. 

Pallbearers will be Juan Ramon Avila, Jr., Stephen Avila, Claude Anderson, II, Alfredo Avila, Jr, Emanuel Avila, and Daniel Avila.
