Bernabe Garza Mena

Bernabe Garza Mena, 75, of Crystal City, Texas, passed away peacefully at his residence on February 18, 2025.

 He was born on February 23, 1949, in Crystal City to Elojia (Garza) and Antonio Mena.

Bernabe’s life will be celebrated with a visitation on Monday, February 24, 2025, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a rosary service at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Uvalde, Texas, followed by interment at Benito Juarez Cemetery in Crystal City.

He is survived by his three daughters, Cynthia Mena of Crystal City, Texas, Veronica Mena of Boise, Idaho, and Esmeralda Gil and her husband, Santiago of Payette, Idaho; as well as two sons, Antonio Mena and wife, Velma of Batesville and Johnny Joe Mena and wife, Alicia of Uvalde; two brothers, Jose Angel Mena and Francisco Mena, both of Crystal City, Texas. He cherished his role as a grandfather to 17 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren, and he is also remembered fondly by numerous nieces and nephews.

Bernabe is preceded in death by his beloved parents, his wife Dora Hernandez, and his daughter Ruby Hernandez.

In honor of his memory, the pallbearers will include Steven Mena, Johnny Joe Mena, II, Antonio Mena, Jr., Enrique Hernandez, Ricardo Gil, Emilio Mena, Mario Delgado, Jr., and Jose Alfredo Hernandez.
