Bertha Ruiz Garza of Uvalde, passed away on Monday, February 21, 2022 at Uvalde Healthcare and Rehabilitation at the age of 89.
Bertha was born on January 8, 1933 in Cline, Texas to Carlos V. and Juanita (De Leon) Ruiz.
Bertha help raise her brothers and sisters after her stepmother passed away. She worked and retired from Dickies and Wal-Mart. She was a generous and kind to all she met.
She married Edmundo A. Garza in Uvalde.
Bertha is survived by two sisters, Cecilia Acosta of Villa Park, Illinois and Gloria Valdez and husband Jesse of Oak View, California; two brothers, Gilberto Ruiz of McHenry, Illinois and Arturo Ruiz of Graylakes, Illinois; special niece, Diane Velasquez of Uvalde; stepdaughter, Araceli “Sally” Ortiz of Uvalde; five grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, Ascension Ruiz, two half-brothers, Chaldo Martinez and Antonio Martinez and stepdaughter, Amparo Gonzales.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 starting at 2:00 p.m. A rosary will be held on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ric Valdez, James Valdez, David Valdez, Alfred Velasquez, Jr. Jacob Garcia and Ruben Garcia, Jr.
