Betty Boultinghouse

Betty Sue Boultinghouse of Utopia passed away on January 6, 2009 in Amistad Nursing Home at the age of 88. She was born on June 21, 1920 in Utopia, TX to John Thomas and Matybel Patton Bownds. She married Elton F. Boultinghouse on June 25, 1944 in Utopia. He preceded her in death on June 10, 1991. Mrs. Boultinghouse was a 1941 graduate of the University of Texas in Austin. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Stars for over 50 years. She was a life long member of the Utopia Baptist Church. In 1886, her grandfather, L.D. Bownds was a charter member of the Utopia Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Sabinal Canyon Chapter of the D.A.R. She is survived by two daughters, Lynn D'Spain and husband, Mark of Utopia; Chris Bradley and husband, Ron of Kerrville; two sons, Neil Boultinghouse and wife, Peggy; and Eric Boultinghouse and wife, Jeannette, all of Utopia; six grandchildren, Cheryl Pace; Denise Moseley; France D'Spain; Ace D'Spain; Wil Bradley; and Casey Heideman; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, John Harold Bownds; sister, Margaret Gordon; and great-grandchild, Cody Elton Parker. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 9, 2009, at 10:00 AM at the Utopia Baptist Church with burial to follow in Waresville Cemetery. Mr. Paul Stephens will officiate. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Assoc. or the Utopia Baptist Church.
