Betty Lou Hoag of Uvalde passed away on May 17, 2016 at her residence at the age of 86. She was born on August 21, 1929 in Burnet, TX to Jefferson Russell Keele, Jr. and Leta Howell Keele. She married Stephen Hoag on June 14, 1947 in Uvalde. Mrs. Hoag was a 1945 graduate of Uvalde High School. She was a long-time member of the South Getty Church of Christ. She was a long-time teller at First State Bank of Uvalde, and served as secretary to former Vice-President John Nance Garner and his son, Tully Garner. She is survived by her husband of 68 years; son, Stephen Hoag, Jr. and wife, Jany of Waco; and two daughters, Sandra Voiles and husband, Mike of Kerrville and Susan Webb and husband, Ronnie of Boerne; six grandchildren, Collin Hoag, Suzanne Steece, Jeff Webb, Jason Webb, Jennifer Aiken, and Andrew Voiles; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Molly Nan Holmes; and brother Jefferson Russell Keele III. A graveside memorial service will be held on Monday, May 23, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Uvalde Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Uvalde Hospice, 1038B Garner Field Road, Uvalde, TX 78801. Cremation was under the direction of Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.
