William “Bill” Luther Adams, 78, died Thursday, March 14, 2019 in Uvalde, Texas.
Bill was born May 27, 1940 in Klamath Falls, Oregon to Bill and Lenora Adams where he lived for a short time before they returned to their home of Colorado City, Texas.
Bill joined the U.S. Navy in 1958 and served from 1958 – 1962 and 1964 – 1968, which included 3 tours in Vietnam. From there, he went on to work as a patrolman for the Texas Department of Public Safety and then served 25 years with the U.S. Border Patrol, retiring as an Assistant Chief of the Del Rio Sector in 1995. Bill loved his country and he served it honorably and proudly.
Bill is survived by Kathleen “Kathy” Fischer Adams, his wife of over 41 years; his daughter Crystal Adams Cardwell (Bryan), son John Fritter; siblings Elsie, Randy and Tony; sister-in-law, Elaine Slubar; many nieces and nephews; and numerous friends, all who loved, respected and adored him. Bill will be remembered for his love of his family, his utmost integrity, unending generosity, compassion and sense of humor.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his son William “Billy” Dane and his siblings Veril, Leon, James, Clay, Linda, Michael and Juanice.
A memorial service/celebration of life will be held in Bill’s honor on Saturday, March 30th at 2:00 pm on Fischer Ranch (1050 Barkley Lane) in Uvalde, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Uvalde Humane Society or the Wounded Warrior Project. Condolences may be shared at www.rekfunerals.com.
