Bill Rufis Marlin at the age of 81 went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on his birthdate, September 3, 2009 in South Fork, Colorado. Bill was born on September 3, 1928 in Uvalde, TX to Conway Tubbs Marlin and Myrtle Harris Marlin. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and one brother. Bill grew up in the hill country at Montell, TX. He worked as a Ranch Foreman on the Winslow Ranch for 45 years where he loved hunting and ranching. He raised his children to love the Lord. They each knew he prayed for them daily, and they loved to sit and listen to him tell stories of his hunting and ranching days. He was a deacon at Baptist Temple Church where he began taking his family to church in 1948. He had many dear friends there that he loved and that he loved to tease. He loved fishing in Colorado and always dreamed of catching the Big Fish He will be missed. He leaves to mourn his passing his beloved wife, Madeline Vernor Marlin of 61 years; his children, Johnny Ray Marlin of Dallas; Vivian Goode and husband, Joel of Uvalde; Patricia Barnes and husband, Richard of Crystal City; Richard Marlin and wife, Susan of Uvalde; grandchildren, Joey Goode and wife, Kara of San Antonio; Christi Twilligear and husband, Coby of Hondo; Tim Marlin and Rachel Marlin of Uvalde; Kenneth Barnes and wife, April of Stephenville; Melanie Gibson and husband, Joe of Florence; and a sister, Emma Jean Everett. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Parker and Preston Twilligear; Dawson and Savanah Gibson; J.D. and Kalynn Goode; Kallie Barnes; and many, many dear friends he loved. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2009, at 10:00 AM at the Baptist Temple Church with burial to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Rev. Tony Gruben will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jim Turner, Don Merritt, Rodney Oden, Malcolm Richey, Ross Thompson, George Verndon, Arnie Gonzales, and Dennis Gazaway. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Youth Fund at Baptist Temple Church. Family visitation will be held on Tuesday, 9809, from 5:00-6:30 PM at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.
