Billy Joe James

Billy Joe James, 87, of Uvalde, went to heaven after a sudden heart attack on June 24, 2023 at the Uvalde Memorial Hospital.

A service will be held on Friday, June 30, 10:00 am, at the Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel.  Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.

 He was born on July 26, 1935, in Bryan County, Oklahoma to Leona (Laxton), and Charles Luther James.

 He was married to Nancy Jo Hopkins in Achille, Oklahoma on July 18, 1959. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Nancy, his brother Charles, his sister Mary, two half-brothers, JB and Philip and six half-sisters, Helen, Mildred, Charlene, Reba, Velma and Doretha

 He is survived by his three sons, Jeffrey Charles James and wife, Michelle of Uvalde, Russell Paul James and wife Rebekah, of Uvalde, and Joe Bradley James and wife Valerie, of San Antonio: his twin sister, Betty Jean and husband James Sullivan of Hoover, Alabama: five grandchildren, Jessica James, Austin James (Sarah), Ethan James (Leigha), Lauren Sudderth (Kale), and Emily James; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Pallbearers will be Austin James, Ethan James, Kale Sudderth, Greg Gordon, Richard Hopkins, and Brandon Clountz.
