Burns Edgar Taylor Jr. of Uvalde passed away on September 28, 2014 at Amistad Nursing Home in Uvalde at the age of 90. He was born on August 14, 1924 in Cortez, Florida to Burns Edgar and Etna Priess Taylor Sr., where his family were commercial fishermen. He joined the Navy during WWII from 1942 thru 1946 and then reenlisted from 1947 thru 1956. He then joined the Air Force from 1956 thru 1964 and retired from active duty as Master Sargent. He went on to work as a civil servant at Corpus Christi Army Depot at the Naval Air Station there, and retired in 1979.
He enjoyed working in his yard, gardening, working around the house and going to the deer lease. He also loved his dogs.
He married Adeline Louise Klostermann on November 30, 1957 in Corpus Christi. They moved to Uvalde in 2003 to be closer to their son, where she passed later that year. He was also preceded in death by his parents. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Knippa. He is survived by his children, Richard B. Taylor and wife Lisa of Uvalde, Allen Trostel of Taylors, South Carolina and Karen McCamant and husband Richard of Easton, Maryland 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
The family will greet visitors on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at RushingEstesKnowles Mortuary. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Robstown Memorial Park in Robstown.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations be made to Uvalde Hospice, 1038 Garner Field Rd., Uvalde, TX 78801.
