C. A. Buchanan, Jr., formerly of 416 Melody Lane, Uvalde,TX, passed away on the morning of January 23, 2014, at the Western Heights Care Center in Lander, Wyoming. He was born in Belton,Texas, September 7, 1928 to Charley Aaron and Minnie Caldwell Buchanan. He worked with Walter Heine in Uvalde drilling water wells and with his father clearing brush before beginning his 30 year career with Continental Oil Company.
C.A. was a loving father and grandfather who loved spending time with them. He enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing, and always took the time to teach his children and grandchildren those skills. He was a funloving and caring individual who thoroughly enjoyed the thrill of a bargain at garage sales and the adventure of exploring new and untraveled paths. He and Leona spent much of his retirement exploring the Oregon Trail.
Leona Ruth Jones Buchanan, his loving and devoted wife of 64 years, preceded him in death in November, 2012. He is also preceded in death by his parents, a stillborn child, his brother, R. A. Buchanan, and sisters Dorothy Parker and Lola Carter, and her husband J.B.
Left to mourn him are his children, Charlene Owen and husband, Curtis of Riverton, Wyoming, Carlton Buchanan and wife, Cheryl of Ballinger, Texas, and Joe Buchanan and wife, Vicki of Springdale, Arkansas. He also leaves six grandchildren and one greatgrandchild, his sister Opal Fowler and his brother Loyd Buchanan and wife Louise of Uvalde.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, January 31, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Uvalde Cemetery.
