Caroline Jones

August 26, 1944 — November 30, 2024

Uvalde, Texas

Caroline Bess Jones went to Heaven Saturday November 30, 2024 at the age of 80. She is survived by her daughter Jae Thompson and husband Ross of Uvalde; son, Jody Jones and wife Kimberley of Doss; and son Jarret Jones of San Antonio. She was the proud grandmother, aka “Meemer” to Madisyn Claire Jones, Kennedy Linn Thompson and Gavyn Clay Jones.

Caroline had a deep and abiding love for her husband of 59-years, Rusty Jones. We feel certain there was a large Rusty hug and some country two-stepping that occurred when the two of them saw each other again in Heaven.

Her celebration of life will be held Friday, December 13 at 1:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Uvalde.

Born to Mary Lou Mallott Bess and J.W. Bess in Iola, Texas August 26, 1944. Caroline was raised by a stanch southern Baptist father but made the transition into being a Presbyterian upon her marriage.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Uvalde for 49 years where she served as an Elder in the church; served on numerous church committees along with being a Sunday School teacher for church you and at times even her own children.

With a servant heart, Caroline volunteered often in the Uvalde community. She taught many local 4-H youth how to cook, sew and fill out the dreaded 4-H record book. You could always find her knee deep in preparations for whatever 4-H event was upcoming and held 4-H camp at HEB Camp near and dear to her heart. (There may have been some secret cabin raids led by her that are fondly remembered).

Raised a military brat and attending 13 schools in 12 years made Caroline a natural at meeting new people. This helped her segue into a life- long career as a real estate broker when they moved to Uvalde in 1974. Many remember those blue and white Caroline Jones Real Estate signs fondly. Nothing gave her more joy than matching a family with their perfect home. She was a member and officer of the Uvalde Board of Realtors and guided many new agents into the art of real estate.

Caroline will be dearly missed. She will be remembered for her inherent kindness; sharp brain; huge work ethic and an overwhelming desire to take care of her family.

The family would like to give special thanks to Caroline’s caregivers who loved her and treated her like their family Dolores Banda, Jaine Rubio, Lupe Davila and Pearla Rios.

She was proceeded in death by her parents; sister Jimmie Ruth Conoley and daughter Jeri Linn Jones.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to Uvalde County 4-H; the First Presbyterian Church of Uvalde or a charity of your choice.
