Carrol E. "Bobby" Roberts, 75, of Uvalde, TX died February 10, 2017. Bobby was born March 18, 1941 in Uvalde, TX. Bobby was the third of four children born to his parents, Charles Amy "Shine" Roberts and Roberta Ellen Greer Roberts. He married Karen Labama Bounds on July 12, 1963. He and Karen are parents to three sons: Mark Alan Roberts of Uvalde, TX; Forrest Lee Roberts of Elizabeth, CO and Glenn Alison Roberts of Uvalde, TX.
Everyone who knew Bobby would describe him as having a work ethic that was second to none. He loved the outdoors and had a passion for livestock, specifically swine, cattle, game fowl and horses.
In his early years, Bobby worked for the State of Texas at the Texas Highway Department; Ballard & Haile, and Western Electric before joining Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in 1964 in the daytime while building a livestock operation in the evenings and weekends. In late 1975, he took his first steps to fulfill a life-long dream of being self-employed with Roberts Hog Farm. Later, in 1985, Bobby and his family built, owned and operated Country Junction Meat Market in north Uvalde.
Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, along with two brothers and a sister: brother, AJ Roberts; brother, Charles Leon "Chubby" Roberts; sister, Carrie Ellen "Sissy" Roberts Bailey.
Bobby is survived by the Mother of his children, three sons as well as six grandchildren, including Garrett Eugene Roberts, Kylie Breanne Roberts, Courtney Nicole Roberts, Camri Rene Bottoms, Kinley Taite Roberts and Kalleigh Rose Roberts.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A special thanks to pastor Ray Miller of Leakey, TX as well as pall bearers, including Lewis Tucker, Bobby DeRusha, Jim Robertson, Benny Ewing, Ernesto "Neto" Herrera, and Jim Ed Sturdivant. Also, honorary pall bearers include Bill Dozier, Charles "Pud" Schneider, James Perez, Dave Riley, Jeff Jacques, Ken Harris, Claude Anderson, Chris Goetzel, George McDonald, Enrique Salos, Randy Sloan, Charles Kirk Hutcherson, Jim Shoemaker, and Malcolm Richey.
The Roberts family sincerely appreciates all the many thoughts and prayers from family and friends across the globe during Bobby's illness. After a long and hard battle with ALS, we have peace that Bobby is now in a much better place.
