Celso Uriegas

Celso "Cate" Uriegas of Uvalde passed away on January 21, 2018 at Texsan Heart Hospital in San Antonio at the age of 85. He was born on September 15, 1932 in Uvalde to Celso and Elvira (Vara) Uriegas.

He is survived by his wife Alma Uriegas of Uvalde; daughters, Rosemary Wisniewsky and husband, Steve of McKinney, Edwina Uriegas of Tampa, Florida, Elvira Cervantes and husband, Richard of San Antonio, Elsa Field and Lisa Salinas both of Uvalde; son, Celso Alex Uriegas, Jr. of Uvalde; sisters, Nena Overstreet, Martha "Chole" Luna both of Uvalde and Lola Bermea of La Pryor; brother, Jose Uriegas of Austin; 14 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Anita Rodriguez and brother, Raul Uriegas.

A rosary will be held on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2018at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Uvalde Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Richard Cervantes, Johnny Field, Jr., Adrian Rodriguez, Rico Rojas, Antonio "Tony" Varela, and Seth Wisniewsky. Honorary Pallbearers will be Adolfo Aguero, Jr. and Steve Wisniewsky.
