Charles Willis Carson, Jr. of Barksdale passed away on August 21, 2010 in San Antonio at the age of 83. He was born on August 26, 1926 in Eagle Pass, TX to Charles W. Carson, Sr. and Vesta Worrell. He married Ernestine Jessup in Sanderson, TX on March 7, 1953. Upon his graduation from Camp Wood High School in 1944, he entered the U.S. Navy and served from 19441946. He graduated from SWTJC in Uvalde in 1948 and from Sul Ross State College in Alpine in 1955. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ernestine Carson of Barksdale daughter, Teena Hughs and husband, Feller of Friona, TX son, Charles Bubba Carson III and wife, Pamela of Rocksprings, TX sister, Lucille Hutcherson of Uvalde five grandchildren, Will James Hughs Lauren Rose Hughs Ellen Victoria Carson Emily Vesta Carson and Charles Carson IV and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John F. Carson. Graveside services will be held on Monday, August 23, 2010, at 5:00 PM in the Barksdale Cemetery. Rev. Don Tumlinson will officiate. Pallbearers will be Tony Frerich Sam Shanklin Scott Williams Johnny Whitworth Stan Cottle and Bobby Cottle. Honorary pallbearers will be his many friends and neighbors, and all his classmates from SWTJC class of 19461948. Memorial donations may be made to the 1st United Methodist Church, PO Box 9, Barksdale, TX 78828 or to the charity of ones choice.
