Clarence Bowman Gallaway came into this world in December 14, 1926 in Uvalde, Texas. He departed this world on February 13, 2010. Clarence was a talented contractorcarpenter and World War II Army Veteran. Accomplishments in life include his family and the homes and churches, that he and his father built in Uvalde, Sabinal, Reagan Wells, and Brackettville, as well as the work he did on the Briscoe Ranches.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Dade and Anna Belle Gallaway, one brother, Charles Gallaway, one sister, Virginia Lilley, as well as several dear Uncles and Aunts.
Clarence, Shorty Gallaway is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Mary L. Gallaway, one brother, Jimmy Gallaway and wife Joyce, as well as sisterinlaw Lou Gallaway, brotherinlaw Van Lilley, and numerous cousins.
Missing their Daddy will be his children, Brenda Carter and husband Richard Carter of Uvalde, Michael D. Gallaway and wife Carmen , of DeQueen, Arkansas, Janie Anderson and husband Michael Anderson of Alice, Texas, and Amy Coleman of Houston, Texas. Other special people in his life, whom he loved as his own were Renee Gallaway Wexler and husband Lowell, Rebecca Wyner and husband Robert, and Wayne Cahours and his wife, Helen.
Missing their Pop are grandchildren Jacob Douglas Postert, Clayton Postert, and Caleb Carter, Michael Gallaway serving with the United States Army in Iraq and his wife, Jarie, and Patrick Gallaway, Austin Anderson, Aaron Anderson, and Andrea Anderson, Blake Coleman, Luke Coleman, Reagan Coleman, Cooper Coleman and Max Coleman, and Chaz Bowman. Greatgrandchildren are Cindy Gallaway, Scott Gallaway, Breanna Belle Postert, Katrianna Zgourides, and Nicholas Zgourides.
The family expresses sincere appreciation to Hospice, the staff at Uvalde Memorial Hospital, and Amistad Nursing Home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Hospice or a local charity of your choice.
Graveside services for Clarence Gallaway will be Monday, February 15, 2010 at 10:30 AM at Hillcrest Cemetery. Officiating the services will be Pastor Dwight Babcock of the Uvalde Church of Nazarene. Pallbearers will be Jacob Postert, Clayton Postert, Caleb Carter, Patrick Gallaway, Austin Anderson, Aaron Anderson, Blake Coleman, and Andrea Anderson. Honorary Pallbearers are Luke Coleman, Reagan Coleman, Cooper Coleman and Max Coleman.
