Clarence Nelson

Clarence Richard Nelson of Reagan Wells passed away on December 11, 2008 in Kirkwood Manor in New Braunfels, TX at the age of 84. He was born on January 31, 1924 in Eastland, TX to Rev. William Jackson and Grace Caroline Johnson Nelson. He married Frances Elizabeth Heard on November 27, 1947 in Reagan Wells. She preceded him in death on Dec. 10, 1991. He is survived by two daughters, Cindy Blue and husband, Roger of New Braunfels, and Denise Stark and husband, David of Austin; a son, Will Dexter Nelson and wife, Janine of Ft. Worth; two brothers, Andrew J. Nelson and wife, Margie; and William Jackson Nelson, Jr., all of Reagan Wells; sisters-in-law, Nell Graham and husband, Bobby; and Sydney Dayle Davenport and husband, Buck, all of Uvalde; grandchildren, Roxanne and Shawn Lain; Alexis Blue; Drew Nelson; Jake Nelson; John Nelson; Gracie Stark and Micah Stark; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Nelson moved to Uvalde County in 1934, where he returned and lived after his 40 years with Humble-Enco-Exxon as an accountant. He was a B-24 combat pilot stationed in Southern Italy during WWII with the Army Air Corp. He was a graduate of the University of Texas in Austin. Mr. Nelson enjoyed living independently while taking care of his dogs, cats, birds, deer, and turkeys. He was a member of the Reagan Wells Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2008, at 2:00 PM at the Reagan Wells Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Heard Cemetery. Rev. Willis Adair will officiate. Pallbearers will be Shawn Lain; Drew Nelson; Jake Nelson; John Nelson; Griffin Crow; Ross Crow; Wes Beltran; Wyatt Corder; and Micah Stark. Memorial donations may be made to your local Animal Shelter; the Heard Cemetery Assn.; or the American Diabetes Assn.
