Claude Allen Graham, age 91, passed away Saturday morning at his home in Utopia. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, March 16 at 11:00 a.m. at Jones Cemetery in Utopia.
Claude was born on July 27, 1925, in Tarpley. He was the son of Claude Murray Graham and Mildred Hicks Graham. He attended school in Trio, Utopia and Sabinal, where he graduated in 1943. After graduation, he joined the Navy where he served during World War II.
Claude married Nelle Schaefer on December 24, 1946. They had three children, Claude Allen Graham, Jr., Sandra Graham Whitten and Jeanie Graham Kolb. Having worked on ranches most of his life, Claude semi-retired and moved to Granite Shoals where he and Nelle and the girls opened Graham's Grocery Store. He loved family and friends, fiddle music, fishing , playing 42, and telling stories.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nelle Schaefer Graham, his son, Claude Allen Graham, Jr., and his brother, Punk Graham. He is survived by two daughters, Sandra Whitten and husband, Greg Whitten of Coleman, and Jeanie Kolb and husband, Pee Wee Kolb of Llano, and one granddaughter, Ashlee Whitten of San Marcos. Also surviving are two sisters, Ethel Maude Weynand of Utopia and Marie Lee of Magalia, California, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
