Claudio Valenzuela, Sr. of Uvalde passed away on July 17, 2009 in San Antonio at the age of 76. He was born on October 31, 1932 in Dripping Spring, TX to Teodoro and Encarnacion Falcon Valenzuela. He married Modesta Lopez in Uvalde on April 22, 1956. He is survived by his wife of 53 years; four daughters, Anita Esparza and husband, Rafael; Maria Dolores Roberts and husband, John; and Elena Valenzuela, all of San Antonio; and Belinda Valenzuela of Uvalde; two sons, Claudio Valenzuela, Jr. and wife, Elsa of Uvalde; and Oscar Valenzuela and wife, Berta of San Antonio; five sisters, Elsa De Leon of Stanton, TX; Lucia Hidalgo of Odessa; Martina Lopez and husband, Reynaldo of Uvalde; Virginia Rendon and husband, Leo of Midland; and Adelaida Valenzuela of Musquiz, Coahuila, Mexico; two brothers, Thomas Valenzuela and wife, Virginia; and Catarino Valenzuela and life-long friend, Cuca, all of Camp Wood; 19 grandchildren, Jonathan Claudio Valenzuela; Joseph Aaron Valenzuela; Marlynn Celeste Valenzuela; Patricia V.E. Williams and husband, Devone; Monique E. Morales and husband, Albino; Rafael Esparza, Jr.; Naomi Esparza, Joshua Esparza, and Illiana Esparza; Chrystal Marie Castillo; Victoria Anita Castillo; Vincent Theo Valenzuela; Steven Valenzuela; Juan Antonio De La Fuente and wife, Celinda; Jose Eduardo De La Fuente and fiance, Jessica; Cristina Maria De La Fuente; Chelseay Jay Valenzuela Clark and husband, Justin; Manuel Ayala; and Roberto Ayala; 3 great-grandchildren, Julisa and Isaac Morales; and George Ayala; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces,great-nephews, many friends, and his cats, Boo Boo, Midnight, Victoria, and Snowball. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Francisca Valenzuela de Cabral; Cristel Lozano Valenzuela; and Mary Romo; and a brother, Fidel Valenzuela. According to his family, Mr. Valenzuela was devoted to his family. He was a truck driver who loved to travel. He loved fishing, hunting, bar-b-queing, and sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Rafael Esparza, Jr.; Jose Eduardo De La Fuente; Juan Antonio De La Fuente; Vincent Theo Valenzuela; Jonathan Claudio Valenzuela; and Joseph Aaron Valenzuela. Honorary pallbearers will be Victor Steven Valenzuela; Billy Garcia, Spc. Justin Clark; Lcpl. Joshua Esparza, Paul Anthony Roberts, John Julian Roberts, Jr.; Manuel Ayala; and Roberto Ayala.
