Cleo Winn

Cleo Elizabeth Herndon Winn was born in Miller Garden on the Zachry Ranch in Kinney County on April 19, 1913. She passed away at the age of 100 on May 10, 2013. She is survived by her brothers Elmer Herndon, Sr. and Dick Herndon of Uvalde, and Russell Herndon of Hondo her three children Pete Winn and wife Joyce of Uvalde, Cynthia Van Horn and husband Larry of San Antonio, and Oscar Russell Bub Winn, Jr. of Uvalde five grandchildren K.C. Allan Waldron and husband James of Austin, Ron Winn and wife Audra of San Antonio, Vann Allan of Kauai, Melissa Winn and fianc Dominic Angonia of Bryan, and Clay Winn and wife Samantha of Corpus Christi and four greatgrandchildren Clayton Winn and Jacob Winn of San Antonio, and Cleo Elizabeth Waldron and Henry Waldron of Austin. She was preceded in death by her husband Oscar Russell Tince Winn, Sr., her parents George Russell Herndon and Mamie Lacey Herndon, her brothers J.B Herndon and Louis Herndon, and one grandchild Oscar Russell Tince Winn, III. She was a ranchwoman all her life. She grew up on a ranch in Kinney County with five brothers. She graduated from Tyler Business College. She taught kindergarten in Uvalde at Ima Perkins school. She and her husband Tince Winn ranched north of Uvalde until their deaths. She was a fierce domino player, a great dancer, and the best mother and grandmother in the world. Graveside services will be held at Montell Cemetery on Monday, May 13th at 1 p.m. A reception followed at the Montell Country Club. Pallbearers will be her nephews Elmer Herndon, Jr., Wayne Winn, and Billy Winn of Uvalde, Jack Herndon of Houston, Don Herndon of Sabinal, Jim Jackson of Rio Frio, Tx, and dear friends Street Rogers of Fort Hancock, and Doug Allan of Bryan.
