Cruz Contreras

Cruz Vasquez Contreras of Knippa passed away on April 15, 2009 in St. Lukes Hospital in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 75. She was born on November 24, 1933 in Knippa, Texas to Francisco and Agripina Vasquez. She married Severo Contreras in Knippa, Texas on March 21, 1950. She is survived by her husband of 59 years Severo Contreras Sr. of Knippa, Texas; one daughter; Barbara Rodriguez and husband, Juan of Hillsboro, Texas; five sons; Severo Contreras and wife, Sara of Huntsville, Alabama; John H. Contreras Sr. of Atmore, Alabama; Sam Contreras; and Tony Contreras and wife, Norma; all of Knippa, Texas; Mark Contreras and wife, Becky of Uvalde, Texas; one sister; Maria Llanes of Knippa, Texas; one brother; Frank Vasquez of Houston, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one son; Jimmy Contreras. A rosary will be held on Thursday and Friday at 7:00 PM at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at 3:00 PM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Knippa.Pallbearers will be sons; Severo, John H. Sr., Sam, Tony and Mark Contreras, and son-in-law Juan Rodriguez.
