In loving memory of Damiana Dominguez Camacho, 101, who returned to our heavenly Father Jesus Christ on February 28, 2021 of natural causes. She was born in Riviera, Texas on December 11, 1919 to Bartolo Dominguez and Juanita Fabela, and was one of three siblings.
Damiana grew up in Lyford, TX and raised her children in Uvalde, Tx where her family worked the farmlands. She got married in Corpus Christi in 1939 and were blessed with a family of 9 children (6 biological and 3 adopted):
She is survived by her sons, Fidel Camacho of Uvalde, Tx.,, Dimas Camacho and wife Odilia Mendoza Camacho of Levelland ,Texas; daughters, Rosario Camacho and husband Arnoldo Acedo Sr of Mission, Tx. and Yolanda Camacho of Tracy, California, and daughter-in-law Gregoria Camacho of Uvalde, Tx. numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and great-great-great grandchildren (too many to count) which she remembered all by name. Her legacy will surely live on.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers (Zacarias and Matias Dominguez), daughter; Maria Angelita Camacho; sons Isidoro Camacho, Sr., Isidoro Camacho, Jr., Jose Santos Camacho, Juan Benito Camacho Sr., daughter-in-laws Teresa Camacho, Guadalupe G. Camacho, Guadalupe T. Camacho, son-in-law Dennie Leal Trevino, grandsons Jose Luis Camacho, Rosalio Camacho, Juan Benito Camacho Jr, Emilio Camacho, Arturo L. Aguirre, Bruce L. Brown; granddaughter Evelyn Trevino.
The couple settled in Uvalde, Texas, Damiana and Rosalio had many adventures while raising their family. She lost her husband at an incredibly young age and raised her family with the assistance of her elder children and family.
Damiana knew her role as a mother and homemaker. She rose very early in the mornings to prepare breakfast and pack lunches for her husband and children who would labor all day in the farmlands. At that, she was a disciplinarian with her children and ran a tight household. Things in her household had to be in order and clean. Her children and grandchildren can attest to the fact that she had "tenacity". She expected them to behave properly and be mindful. She was known for her feistiness.
She loved cooking, gardening, crocheting, music, dancing, taking care of her family and a good laugh with family and friends. Did I mention she loved to eat and dance?!!! Her sacrifices for her family throughout her life made her strong indeed.
She will be remembered as a selfless, strong-willed wife, mother and grandmother who would shower us with unconditional love, would greet us with a smile that later turned into laughter. Her visits were full of love, words of wisdom, encouragement which ended with a bendicion.
