Surrounded by her loved ones Dea Lynn Hall, 70, of Uvalde, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2025, at Main Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born October 9, 1954, in Edinburg, Texas.
Living a happy, simple life was her goal, and her dream came true when she met Bobby Hall in 1979. They married on February 25, 1984, in Uvalde and were married 35 years until his death in 2019. Fishing and camping at Lake Mathis brought them such peaceful joy together. Where there was water, they fished! Their motor home road trips covering the US were top priorities.
She loved all realms of nature. Spring wildflowers blooming meant it was RV time. Watching animals of all types especially the ones which roamed around their home’s back yard pond always put a smile on her face. She loved to smell the fresh air after a rain, watch the sunsets and listen to the many birds wherever they traveled.
Known for her smile, Lynn had a kind, sweet, loving disposition…a gentle soul who was loved by many. As an extremely talented quilter, she gifted many homemade quilts to her family members yet she was her worst critic. The treasured gifts she sewed, pot holders, hot pads, and more, also became lifetime keepsakes for family and friends.
Spending time with her grandkids was undoubtedly a cherished time for Nanny or Granny, as she was called. Watching them catch fish in the pond, play card games endlessly, taking them for ice cream treats and letting them stroll through the kitchen for a snack brought her boundless joy. They loved visiting for the freedom of roaming the property, playing with toys outside and running around while hiding from each other which made her home that special place.
Delighted by her daughter-in-law, Sierra’s, signature homemade spaghetti prized recipes were known in the family. Most who knew Lynn loved her specialty, that famous buttermilk pie. Filling her home with family and a huge feast was her greatest pleasure…and yes, it included her buttermilk pie. Most of her holiday gifts were handcrafted so many received her scrumptious banana nut or pumpkin bread.
Finding comfort in various ways helped give her peace. Miniature Australian Shepherd, Chief, was her constant companion, and her faith in the Lord was extremely important to her. She was always grateful to those who prayed for her during her health journey.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Daniel (Bobby) Hall, Jr.
Lynn is survived by sons Bobby Wade Hall (Sierra) and Michael Allen Moore (Carrie), grandsons Bradley Wayne Henderson (Mercedes), Tanner Wade Hall (Rengin), Matthew Allen Moore (Avery), and Dalton Patrick Hall (Shelbie), great grandchildren Griffin Ray Henderson and Lyla Grace Henderson.
She is also survived by her parents Pete and Billie Gonzalez, sister Suzette Gilbert, brother Charles Wynn Tucker (Ed), James Gonzalez (Christy), Tony Gonzalez, mother-in-law Joyce Hall Allison, sister-in-law Diana Hall Bonnet (Mark), brother-in-law James Hall (LeighAnn), longtime best friend, Cindy Morris (Charlie), and many nieces and nephews.
