Dora Chapa Terrazas

Dora Chapa Terrazas, 71, of Uvalde passed away on October 14, 2023, at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio.

She was born on January 13, 1952, in Uvalde, Texas to Mercedes (Ortiz) and Jose Jesus Chapa.

She married Jose Rogelio Terrazas, Sr. on March 30, 1968, in Uvalde, Texas.

Dora and her late husband, Roy, established a successful business. They opened Prompt Stop Tire Shop in 1987.  She was a hard worker, working alongside her husband until his death.  She was a member of Templo Cristiano and lived a life of faith. She often quoted scriptures of the Bible to her children and grandchildren. She always prayed for her children, letting them know she loved them. Her phone calls always ended with I love you Baby! Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the joys of her life.  She had a giving heart and was always ready to help someone in need. 

She is survived by her three sons, Jose Rogelio “Joe Roy” Terrazas, Jr. and wife, Sandra of Uvalde, Juan Jose “John” Terrazas and wife, Claudia of Hondo, and Don “Donnie” Anthony Terrazas and wife, Gysenia of Corpus Christi; two sisters, Enedina O. Chapa of Uvalde and Armandina C. Herrera and husband, Lalo of Uvalde; brother, Jose Jesus Chapa, Jr. of Uvalde; six grandchildren, Amanda Michelle Terrazas, Jose Luis Terrazas, Jose Antonio Terrazas, Vicente Marco Terrazas, Joaquin Ray Terrazas, and Rogelio Saul Terrazas; five great grandchildren, Leandro Jeffrey Terrazas, Camila Jo Terrazas, Caleb Jovani Terrazas, Emilio Luis Terrazas, and Natalia Rocio Terrazas; her dear close friend, Moses P. Vallez; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be held Thursday, October 19, 2023, at 5 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.  A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 20, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Templo Cristiano Church. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. 

Pallbearers will be Jose Rogelio Terrazas, Juan Jose Terrazas, Don Anthony Terrazas, Jose Luis Terrazas, Jose Antonio Terrazas, Vicente Marco Terrazas, and Joaquin Ray Terrazas. Honorary pallbearers will be Leandro Jeffrey Terrazas and Rogelio Saul Terrazas.
