Doris Boone Jechow, 94, passed away in Uvalde, Texas on May 7, 2021. Doris was born in 1926 to Calvin and Mary Boone in San Angelo, Texas, where she lived and worked until her marriage to Braden Jechow in 1949.
Doris, who was married to Braden for 53 years before his death in 2002, lived in many different cities from Texas to South Dakota for Braden’s work in the geophysical business. They started their own geophysical business in 1969 after moving to Midland.
Doris and Braden retired to their ranch in Vance, Texas in 1977, and lived there until Braden’s death. They were members of Vance Baptist Church and enjoyed visits with their children and grandchildren, who lovingly called her “Nana.”
After moving to Uvalde in 2003 to be closer to relatives, she joined the Uvalde Garden Club, attended Redeeming Grace Fellowship and enjoyed Bingo at the Activity Center.
She is survived by her two children, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; her son, Steven Jechow of Uvalde; her daughter-in-law, Susie, of Victoria, Texas; her daughter, Diane Patterson and husband, Doug, of Sunnyvale, Texas; four grandchildren, Brittany Curtis, Mitchell Patterson, Katherine Bowen and Andrew Jechow; and four great-grandchildren, Braden Curtis, Dylan Curtis, Vincent Bowen and Grant Bowen.
She is also survived by her sister, Elouise Gallagher of Grand Prairie, Texas. Doris is preceded in death by her parents, as well as her sisters Willie Brewster, Dorothy Reavis, Mary Huckaby and her brother Ray Boone.
Doris was under the care of Uvalde Memorial Hospice since November 2020. Donations to Herby Ham Activity Center are encouraged in lieu of flowers. Graveside will be held at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park near New Braunfels, Texas.
