Doris Marie Shackelford, 82, of Corpus Christi, TX died July 11, 2008 in Amistad Nursing Home in Uvalde, TX. She was born July 17, 1925 in Minot, N. Dakota to Norman and Katherine Pitner Bangs. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and her first husband, William Bill Coffin Watson. She is survived by her husband, Edward Shackelford of Corpus Christi; a daughter, Dee Worley and husband, Don of Uvalde, TX; a son, William Irvin Watson and wife, Jo of Tomball, TX; six grandchildren, Rebecca Moore husband, Lonnie of Deer Park, WA; Katherine Fulcher husband, Clint of Pharr, TX; Stephanie Bowman husband, Jonathan of Uvalde U.S. Army; and Anna Wood husband, Matt; Amy Pannagl husband, Tony; and Jared Watson all of Houston; and nine great-grandchildren, Brandon, Emmy, Addy, and Livvy Moore of Deer Park, WA; Delaney, Ryleigh, and Aubrey Fulcher of Pharr, TX; Anthony Pannagl of Houston; and Hayden Wood, also of Houston. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at 2:00 PM in Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, TX. Pallbearers will be Jared Watson, Matt Wood, Tony Pannagl, Clint Fulcher, Lonnie Moore, and Edward Shackelford, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be John Wood, John Watson, Fred I. Watson, and Jonathan Bowman. Doris was employed by CPL as a clerk and office manager in Mathis until she retired in 1987. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church, she loved playing bridge, going to the symphony, traveling, and talking to people. The family suggests memorial donations to the 1st United Methodist Church BuildingRestoration Fund, 301 N. High St., Uvalde, TX 78801; El Progreso Memorial Library, 301 W. Main St., Uvalde, TX 78801; or a charity of ones choice.
