Dorothy Brown

Dorothy Veira Brown of Uvalde passed away on October 6, 2009 in Uvalde Memorial Hospital at the age of 96. She was born on September 7, 1913 in Racine, Wisconsin to John and Kate Mainland. She married Charles Leslie Brown in Crystal City, Texas on May 29, 1948. She is survived by three daughters; Elizabeth Alexander and husband, Andy; Leslie K. Shaw and husband, John; and Mary Lynn Vaughn and husband, Randy all of Uvalde, Texas; one son; Charles John Brown and wife, Debbie of Catarina, Texas; one sister; Winifred Redfield of La Porte, Indiana; twelve grandchildren; Chad Alexander, Alyson Dubler, Brandon Alexander, Lyndzie Kolb, Theresa Shaw, Sandra Shaw, Les Shaw, Sally Vaughn, Brea Horton, Devon Fox, Lyssa Silos, and Carson Brown; numerous great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers and one sister. A family visitation will be held on Friday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at 10:00 AM at First Baptist Church in Uvalde. The burial will be at 2:00 PM in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Carrizo Springs.
