Dorothy Erline Dottie Garey of Uvalde passed away on May 23, 2011 at the age of 92. She was born on December 3, 1918 in Concord, TX to Mid and Una Montgomery Cundiff. She married James Norman Garey in Eustace, TX on July 11, 1940. She is survived by three daughters, Joyce Brown and husband, David of Victoria Barbara Mabe husband, Ronny of Pettus and Sandra Cox and husband, Rothe of Uvalde six grandchildren, Jim Welch and wife, Lauri of Uvalde Jennifer Fox and husband, Bill of College Station Howard Brown of Austin Jason Mabe and wife, Loretta of Cestohowa, TX Tully Welch and wife, Cindy of Del Rio and Toby Cox of Victoria ten greatgrandchildren sisterinlaw, Frances Stein of Fredericksburg and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband parents and four sisters, Ora Mae Selman Reba Long Eva Lee Pittman and Golda Lawrence and one brother, D.W. Son Cundiff. Mrs. Garey was a member of the Uvalde Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and did volunteer work in the Thrift Store. She was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church for 47 years where she taught Sunday School and was the treasurer for the Life Training Class. She worked for the First State Bank and Briscoe Ranches for many years. Interment will be on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 2:00 PM in Uvalde Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 3:00 PM at the 1st United Methodist Church. Pallbearers will be Jim Welch, Jennifer Fox, Howard Brown, Jason Mabe, Tully Welch, and Toby Cox. Rev. Scott Bradford will officiate.
