Dorothy Diane McDowell Griffin passed away July 27, 2012 in Uvalde Texas. She was born in Wellington, Texas Febuary 20, 1919 to DArcy and Rae Johnson McDowell. She married Charles V. Griffin in Wellington on February 2, 1940. He preceded her in death in 2005 after 65 years of marriage. She is also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Jim McDowell. She is survived by one brother, John McDowell of Shamrock, TX two sons, Charles Griffin and wife Kay and Gary Griffin and wife Janice, all of Uvalde six grandchildren, Kari McHone, Darcy Hobby, Amy Ellis, Gary Mac Griffin, Brian Griffin, Greg Griffin, eleven greatgrandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was a member of First Baptist Church of Uvalde where she served on various committees including president of her Sunday school class. She was actively involved for many years in the Uvalde Green Thumb Garden Club, Uvalde Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and was elected first lady of the Texas Feed and Grain Association while her husband served as president.
Services will be held at First Baptist Church on Tuesday July 31, 2012 at 2:00 p.m.
Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Mac Griffin, Brian Griffin, Greg Griffin, Kimble McHone, Tim Hobby, and Chris Ellis. Rev. Jerry Scott will officiate.
The family suggests memorials be made to Uvalde Hospice, 124 Royal Lane First Baptist Church, 220 N. High St. or the charities of their choice.
