Douglas Rankin

Douglas David Bunky Rankin of Uvalde passed away on December 2, 2009 in Amistad Nursing Home at the age of 74. He was born on February 17, 1935 in Uvalde to Charles Warren and Carrie Ola Ivy Rankin. He married Wanda Smith in Uvalde on June 10, 1956. He is survived by his wife of 53 years; three daughters, Nita Faye Hutchison and husband, Sam of Uvalde; Brenda Kay Barnett and husband, Bill of Mertzon, TX; and Cindie Alderson and husband, James of Canyon Lake, TX; a son, Stephen Douglas Rankin and wife, Elisa of Uvalde; six grandchildren, Clay Rankin, Sammy Hutchison, Jeffrey D. Hutchison, Garrett Barnett, Lindsey Hicks, and Guy Dean Barnett; and one great-grandchild, Mackenzie Hicks. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Warren Rankin; mother, Carrie Ola Rankin Lourance; brothers, Vernon Leo Rankin and Buster Rankin; and sisters, Althia Ola Morris and Tressie Lois Bingham. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at 10:30 AM at the First United Methodist Church with burial to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Rev. Scott Bradford will officiate. Pallbearers will be Clay Rankin, Sammy Hutchison, Jeffrey D. Hutchison; Garrett Barnett; Guy Dean Barnett; Bob Baen, and Kipp Boales. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Boales; Richey Keller; Slim Teague; Bob Ballard; Ward Crockard; and Richard Lane. Memorial donations may be made to the 1st United Methodist Church Building Fund, 301 N. High St., Uvalde, TX 78801.
