Dudley S. Jack Harrell, Jr. passed away on February 18, 2012 in Windcrest Nursing Home in Fredericksburg at the age of 84. He was born on December 24, 1927 in Houston to Dudley S. and Mildred Wynn Harrell, Sr. He graduated from Uvalde High School in 1945 where he was an outstanding athlete and football player. He played on the first football team at Southwest Texas Junior College in Uvalde. Jack graduated college from Texas AI in Kingsville, TX and attended on a football scholarship. Following college he had a long and successful career in the oil and gas business. He retired from Coastal States Corp. in 1990 where he served as vicepresident of exploration and production. In his retirement he served First Baptist Church in Uvalde as a deacon. According to the family, Jack truly loved living in his hometown of Uvalde. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jerry Harrell son, Wayne Harrell and wife, Kathy of Fredericksburg two brothers, Jimmy Harrell and wife, Clarisie of Junction and John Harrell and wife, Phyllis of Uvalde and granddaughter, Jennifer Pyka and husband, Nick of Dallas. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 20, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church. Rev. Jerry Scott will officiate. Honorary pallbearers will be his nieces and nephews Merlin Maxey and Dr. James Michael Neff. Memorial donations may be made to Baylor University in Waco, TX or to the charity of ones choice.
