Edwin Oliver Kirkham Jr. was born on September 5th 1938 in San Angelo, Texas to Joy Marie (Cannon) Kirkham and Edwin O. Kirkham Sr. He died on July 21, 2020 at the age of 81.
After attending San Angelo State University, Eddie married Diane Brown. They had 2 children.
Eddie and his young family moved to Uvalde in 1970. From the age of 12 he had a passion for photography which led eventually to the opening of Kirkham’s Studio. For over 46 years he plied his craft in Uvalde and the surrounding area. There wasn’t a sport played in Uvalde that didn’t see Mr. Kirkham prowling the sidelines of a field or gym capturing action shots that parents cherished. There are very few households in the Uvalde area that don’t have a Kirkham Studio portrait hanging on their wall.
After the death of his second wife Polly, Eddie met and married Carol Wood. They were married for 23 years and had one daughter. Eddie sold his studio and finally retired in 2018. He then immediately set up a “studio” in his home which he worked out of until his death. He never lost his love for photography.
Eddie is survived by wife Carol, son Gary Kirkham and wife Debbie of Uvalde, daughters Rhonda Parham of Palo Pinto, Jamie Kirkham of New Jersey and family friend Sissy Hawkins. He is survived by 3 grandchildren, Kristi Dorsett and husband Craig of Nacogdoches, Kegan Gould and wife Caitlin of Llano and Taylor Kirkham and wife Kelly of Uvalde. He has 3 great-grandchildren, Madeline and Ryan Hachtel and Brooke Gould.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents and wives Diane and Polly.
