Eleanor Dee Schwandner Tidwell, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 12, 2024, at the age of 98.
A funeral service will be held on Feb. 21, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. Interment will follow at Brackettville Cemetery.
She was born on January 7, 1926, to Arthur and Addie Lorean Farley Schwandner in Brackettville, Texas.
She married Robert William Tidwell on August 2, 1943, at the home of her parents on the West Nueces River near Brackettville, Texas.
They had two children, Robert Arthur, born on August 18, 1944, and Leitha Lorean born on March 31, 1948.
Eleanor was a loving Christian daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a longtime resident of 214 Martin, LLC in Uvalde, Texas, where she passed away under the care of Uvalde Memorial Hospice & Palliative Care.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law, Carl Jensen, III, of Leakey, Texas and daughter-in-law, Brenda Sue Tidwell of Waco, Texas.
She is survived by her son of Waco, Texas; daughter, Leitha L. Jensen of Leakey, Texas; grandson, Robert William Tidwell, II, daughter in law, Donna Gail Davis Tidwell of Lubbock, Texas; grandson, William Carl “Bill” Jensen (Laci-Leigh) of New Braunfels, Texas; great-grandchildren, Jeremiah, Emily, Lauren, Mary, Olivia, and Liam Jensen of New Braunfels, Texas; brother-in-law, Marcus E. Tidwell (Betty) of Brackettville, Texas; cousins; numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and special caregivers, Janie Rubio, Frances Vega, Elmira Charles, Gloria Tellez, Glory Baker, JoAnn Davila, Elia Fernandez, Irene Pineda, Rosa Uriegas, Lupita Ramirez, and Rosebud Ramos.
A special thanks to the staff of 214 Martin, LLC for her care for the past 24 years and to the staff of Uvalde Memorial Hospice who cared for her.
