Elizabeth Rodriguez

Elizabeth V. "Chavela" Rodriguez of Uvalde passed away on October 2, 2017 at the Methodist Hospital in San Antonio at the age of 82. She was born on March 15, 1935 in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico to Jesus and Aurelia (Navarro) Vara. She married Jesus B. Rodriguez in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico on March 19, 1952.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary L. Cruz and husband, Manuel and Elizabeth Rodriguez Cano all of Uvalde; sons, Arnulfo Rodriguez, Jesus Rodriguez, Jr. and Juan Antonio Rodriguez all of Uvalde and Jose Luis Rodriguez and wife, Donna of Texarkana; sisters, Bertha Hernandez, Carolina Vara Alvarez and Francisca Vara all of Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico; brother, Jesus Vara of Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico; 15 grandchildren, Tammy Angel, Tracy Byrd, Melanie Rodriguez, Jessie Rodriguez III, Joey Rodriguez, Veronica Mata, Eddie Garcia, Elizabeth Ann Torres, Raymond Cano, Arnulfo Cano, Rey Martinez, Juan Antonio Rodriguez, Naomi Montalvo, Hannah Rodriguez and Kezia Rodriguez; numerous great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson, Arnulfo Rodriguez; granddaughter, Jessica Rodriguez; sister, Victoria Banda and brother, Pedro Vara.
A prayer service will be held on Thursday and Friday at 7:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Raymond Cano, Arnulfo Cano, Rey Martinez, Juan Antonio Rodriguez, Jesse Rodriguez III and Eddie Garcia.
