Elizabeth Ryan

February 1, 1940 — September 6, 2012

On September 6, 2012, Elizabeth Ann Brod Ryan went to be with her Lord and Savior. Liz was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on February 1, 1940. She grew up in Premont, Texas working in her parents hardware store and serving ice cream at the local Dairy Dream, which her parents also owned.

While in 3rd grade she met the love of her life, Jimmy Ryan. They truly grew up together. She and Jim married on January 29th, 1960. They were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Lisa and Leslie.

Liz devoted her life to her family. She was a loving, dedicated wife and mother. Later on, she loved and adored four grandchildren. Liz enjoyed investing herself in her home and yard. If you dropped by youd be sure to find her working on some project. She was a wonderful cook and seamstress but was also notorious for tackling less feminine jobs. She repaired her washing machine, sewing machine and anything else around the house that needed working on. Liz also worked at several school districts as a substitute teacher, teachers aide and library aide.

She was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, and the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. She enjoyed traveling all over the western US with her family in their RV. They also had the great experiences of hunting, fishing and scuba diving. Liz dove throughout Mexico, Honduras, Grand Cayman and Jamaica. She was active in the Badland Texas Rangers reenactment group and was an extra in several movies filmed in the area. She was a member of the 1st Baptist Church in Sabinal.

Liz was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Ryan her parents, Robert Maudie Brod and her sonin law, Bill Lester. She is survived by her daughters Lisa Smith and Leslie Lester her soninlaw Douglas Smith her four grandchildren, Ryan Lauren Smith and Brody and Shelby Lester.

Graveside services will be held on Sunday, September 9, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Hillcrest Cemetery in Uvalde. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimers Association, PO Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 200906011.
